Didn’t learn anything but hype.
I'm having this issue right now with Brand vs Industry. We are in the B2B cyber security space and it's hard to find the right balance in such a traditional world of b2b
I wouldn't say they hate eachother. This is all so over the top. Why speak in such grand sentences that mean nothing.
Read- B2B Sales Degree. Simple read that puts you way ahead of your competition
"Legendary three-minute clip", are you sure…Mr V your analogies are arse-about-face. The offensive team is the marketing team, grinding every day to get exposure for the company. When they get an interested party, through content/demand generation/lead generation the ball is thrown to the wide receiver (sales) to make the touch-down. The prima dona is the salesman and always has been since the 1950's. It's the business owners who have relied on salespeople whilst being encouraged to undermine marketing by people like you and as you have done in your 'speech', yet for all your social media intellect and books, you have not come up with a better way of helping marketing and sales work together. As you know full well, if done right, a company can function amazingly well without salespeople. Yet a company without marketing means there is no infrastructure, no content, just a bunch of sales people cold-call door knocking or telephoning, getting the 1/200 response rates and sitting in their cars wishing they had a marketing team issuing leads. Your contempt for marketers is palpable, yet your only suggestion is a bit of coaching to make sales and marketing 'play nicely'. I am shocked that your stance is based upon you being a great salesman, running Vayner Media of the back of growing your father's $1m wine business to a $60m business is great. It reminds me of Jeff Bezos receiving investment of $3bn and look where that got him!!! And that makes you think you can disrespect all marketers. Wow.. I have rarely seen such arrogance. But why should you care, no one is going to challenge you, they're all too frightened for fear of a verbal, swearing backlash that all your millennial entourage seem to love. Agreed, there are many bad marketers out there and even more bad sales people, but one thing is for sure, the 1950's model does not work and it is being changed. So you crack on and see how thing pan out for you if you continue to deride marketers, their qualifications and their desires to make a difference in a business. – Nigel Maine – Founder & Managing Director – salesXchange
Common sense, nothing groundbreaking
